Easy Sugar Cookies

Easy sugar cookies are a great recipe to start making with your kids. Not only do they taste great, they are also a lot of fun to decorate. Sugar cookies are perfect for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, or just anytime you want a quick and easy cookie recipe to make.

Let’s get started. Here’s what you’ll need:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup of sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 stick of butter

(Preheat over to 375 degrees F)

1. Combine your dry ingredients together.

2. Slightly beat your egg, then mix in vanilla.

3. Fold your butter into the mixture

4. Combine your wet and dry ingredients creating a dough.

5. Once your dough is made, place it in the fridge for 1 hour.

6. Now that your dough is chilled, you’ll want to flour your surface. This will help the dough so it doesn’t stick to your roller and surface. Once your surface is floured, press your dough out (I’ll run flour over my rolling pin also) until it’s approximately 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch, depending on if you like thinner or thicker sugar cookies. I prefer them a little thinner, and opt for 1/8 inch.

7. Put a very thin coat of flour over the top of your dough, and choose your cookie cutters. If you don’t have cookie cutters, it’s okay to just use a knife to cut them to the shapes you’d like. Simple squares taste just as good as stars, or other fun shapes!

8. Put your cookies on a non-stick cookie sheet and back for 10 minutes at 375 degrees F.

9. Enjoy by either decorating with Royal Icing, using colored sprinkles, or simply eat them plain!
