Easy Pie Fixes
Today I just want to give you some ideas to help you speed up pie making. If you’re looking for quick and easy recipes, use the simple tips below.
The best part of baking a pie is the incredible aroma that fills the house! Okay, maybe eating the pie is the best, but the aroma sure is a bonus! While apple pie is generally considered the most popular pie flavor, there are so many different flavors of pie to make. Whether you like traditional pies like cherry, blueberry or
apple, or you prefer something tangy like Key Lime pie or Lemon Meringue pie, there’s a flavor for everyone. One of my favorite pies is pumpkin. My husband loves Pecan pie! What’s your favorite pie?
If you’re going to be hosting company, and making pies, try to make more than just one flavor. Not everyone likes every flavor! For example, I’m not a fan of Pecan Pie, even though my husband adores
it. Sometimes we just assume people will love the desserts we love; so just try to remember to add a little variety so there’s something for everyone.
When I was a child, my grandfather would make a special pumpkin pie for me. It wasn’t a family favorite, but it was one of my favorites. He knew that, so he always took the time to make sure there was a pumpkin pie. Boy, did I feel special that someone made something JUST for me!
While many bakers make their own pie crust, one of the types of pie crust I love to use when I’m in a hurry is a plain old graham cracker crust! It doesn’t work for everyone, but it’s a snap. I can either pick one up cheaply at the store, or I can ground up graham crackers and melted butter and make my own in a snap!
Another easy pie tip, when you’re in a hurry is to use ingredients you may all ready have in your house! A quick frozen pie I’ll make in the summer simply combines instant pudding mix (in the flavor of your choice), milk, and thawed whipped topping. Every pie you make doesn’t have to be from scratch if you’re just looking for a quick treat. My mom used to mix up gelatin in place of the pudding when I was a kid. You can also use yogurt in a pinch too! The key with these simple pies is to freeze them, so they can firm up.
