Here’s what you’ll need for your easy oatmeal cookies:

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup cooking oats

To make the cookies you will just need 2 bowls, a whisk, a mixer and cookie trays or sheets.

Simply preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit then mix the flour, salt and baking soda in a bowl. In the other bowl combine the shortening and sugars with a mixer.

The egg should then be beaten with the vanilla extract and water. Slowly add the flour mixture to this mix then stir in all other ingredients.

Start scooping up small spoonfuls or mixture, and place them on ungreased cookie sheets or trays. Remember the cookies will expand when cooked so don’t overfill your tray.

Bake for around 10-12 minutes until light brown then cool for 5 to 10 minutes before eating.

The above recipe should be enough to make around 40 cookies, depending on how large you make them. Of course, you can choose to use this easy oatmeal cookie recipe to make many small oatmeal cookies or just a few larger cookies which are always a special treat and a great idea for school and work lunches.
