Chocolate Honey Oat Squares
Today we’re going to be making Chocolate Honey Oat Squares. They’re a super easy treat to make, and one that the kids will love to not only eat, but make with you! The fun thing about these, are that you can use all different types of cereal, and experiment. What fun combinations can you come up with? Sure, most people know how to make cereal treats with marshmallows and Rice Krispies, but why not try using peanut butter, or chocolate and mix up the different combinations! You can even combine flavors for your own unique twist.
Ingredients:
4 squares semi sweet baking chocolate
2 cups of honey and oat cereal
Is that it? Really?!!! It can’t be THAT easy! Actually, it sure can, and it’s a quick snack you can make for your kids for when they come home from school, and want a little sweet treat! This is a snap- so let’s get started.
Melt your chocolate squares by placing them in a microwave safe bowl. What I like to do is set it for about 30 seconds or so, take it out, stir it, and pop it back in. Continue to do this until the chocolate is smooth and completely melted.
Next you’re going to take your cereal and stir it right into the melted chocolate.
You have two options here. I like to make squares, but you may prefer gobs. You can either 1) press the cereal mixture into a casserole dish, or 2)drop spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet covered with wax paper. I personally like to put it into a glass casserole dish, and then cut them into squares when they are firm. It works both ways!
You will pop these into the fridge for about 30 minutes to firm up. This is enough to make about 16 servings. You can make these Monday, and they’ll last all week long!
